A group of socially engaged has taken the initiative to organize the very first northern ‘Vonketon’ on the 14th and 15th of May. The goal is to think about what our society could look like after the Corona crisis.
The Vonketon is part of a series of events which we are all called Vonketons. During these events we all bring together knowledge and resources to start a movement and build on opportunities for our northern region. We focus on the northern part of the Netherlands. We’ve named this area the Blue Delta.
Covid-19 is the latest crisis that hits our society at its core. The intensity and scale of this crisis make us realize that we have to change and organize ourselves differently. People are sick, deceased, lonely or out of a job. Children can’t go to school and companies are struggling to stay in business. We’ve all been hit by the virus.
We are challenged to adapt and come up with new solutions. This an opportunity to take big steps and speed up the chain of command. Now is the time to gain a new perspective on our way of life.
We call on you the entrepreneurs, scientists, creatives, educators and policy makers to unity. Together we’ll reflect on the current way of life and design for a world after the crisis. You will be free to experiment with ideas you might doubt at first. We’ll challenge you to think freely and suppress the chaos. Keep in mind that ideas might be targeted on individuals or groups, both are very much welcome.
Our goal is to come up with new challenges and innovations to tackle the crisis and the challenges it put forth. The output will be combined into a panorama on how our Blue Delta economy and society could revive over time. Enabling us to live a more honest, sustainable and circular life.
The seventeen Sustainable Development Goals will serve as the foundations for this to be created panorama. These goals are to be realized by 2030 all over the world. When we succeed, what will the Blue Delta be like?
During the first Vonketon 17 teams will work together on defining their part of the puzzle. To give you an idea of what the challenges will look like, we’ve written down three possible challenges below.
- Will online classes be the primary form of education? (SDG 4)
- What will our travel for work look like, now that we’ve experienced the benefits of online meetings? (SDG 7)
- Now that we’ve been challenged to think differently, will our focus shift more towards long term thinking? (SDG 16)

Working Towards 2021
We start working today, during these times of crisis, and plan to finish the first round on the 31st of December 2020. Our panorama filled with plans and new ideas will define the Ministry of the Future located here in the Blue Delta. The ministry will be tasked to develop the panorama into long term projects and fuel our politics into a more sustainable world.
